Multifunctional sports hall
The multifunctional sports facility located in Népliget will be the largest handball stadium of Europe. The hall, built in design-and-build construction, thus in a rolling design, will be suitable to receive 20,000 people.The stadium, which is being built for the 2022 Hungarian-Slovakian Men’s Handball European Championship, will also be suitable as a venue for big concerts, and other events and exhibitions; furthermore it has appropriate standards, sizes and designs for all existing indoor sports, so it is also suitable for basketball, volleyball, ice skating, tennis, and skating, and certain equestrian and motocross sport events may also be organized there.This project has been declared a priority investment from the point of view of the national economy.Compared to the size of the project, the deadline is quite close; the whole facility shall be handed over by the end of 2021, because the European Handball Association intends to hold several test matches before the European Championship. Construction works are continuing apace, but in compliance with strict pandemic standards.
